Start 2024 on Fire 🔥

10 Weeks to a Whole New You

Don’t wait until you’re ready to take action. Instead, take action to be ready.

Ten weeks is enough time to transform your life completely.

With 10 weeks left in the year, starting now means you’ll hit 2024 on fire.

You’ll be ahead of everyone waiting to set (and then forget) their New Year’s Resolutions.

One of my clients, Mark, was stuck in a rut. Both professionally and personally.

He felt like he was drifting aimlessly, unable to make progress in any area of his life.

We devised a 10-week program to help him reboot, focusing on different areas each week:

  • Career goals

  • Relationships

  • Physical health

By the end of the 10 weeks, Mark had a new job offer, rekindled a romantic relationship, and lost 15 pounds.

The transformation was nothing short of remarkable. All because he committed to a structured plan.

Crafting Your 10-Week Plan

So how can you make the most of the remaining weeks of 2023?

Here’s a 10-week plan to set you on fire for 2024. You’ll start off small and build as you go, adding a new area each week:

Week 1: Self-Assessment & Goal Setting

What: Evaluate your current situation and set goals for each area of your life.

How: Take an hour to write down where you are in your career, relationships, health, etc. Whatever you value most. Then, set one major goal for each area.

Why: Knowing where you stand helps you set realistic and achievable goals.

Resource: Check out my Ultimate Cheat Sheet on Achieving Goals for a deeper dive into goal setting.

Week 2: Time Management

What: Create a daily schedule.

How: Use a planner or app to block out time for work, exercise, family/friends, and personal growth.

Why: A structured day increases productivity and helps you reach your goals faster.

Resource: My Ultimate Cheat Sheet on Setting Priorities has several great models to help you use your time well.

Week 3: Skill Upgrading

What: Identify a skill that needs improvement.

How: Dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to learning or practicing this skill.

Why: Upgrading your skills makes you more valuable in any setting.

Resource: Josh Kaufman’s 20-Hour Rule in my Ultimate Cheat Sheet on How to Learn is an excellent way to upgrade your skills.

Week 4: Networking

What: Reconnect with your network.

How: Send a friendly email or LinkedIn message to at least 5 people you haven't spoken to in a while.

Why: A strong network can open doors you didn't even know existed.

Resource: Read Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi one of my favorite books on the power of relationships.

Week 5: Financial Planning

What: Review and adjust your budget.

How: Look at your income and expenses. Find ways to save or invest.

Why: Financial stability gives you the freedom to pursue other goals.

Resource: Give Ramit Sethi’s podcast I Will Teach You to Be Rich a listen. Hint: Episode 69 is a good place to start. His book is also amazing.

Week 6: Sleep Upgrade

What: Optimize your sleep routine.

How: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Create a bedtime ritual to wind down.

Why: Quality sleep enhances your mood, productivity, and overall well-being.

Resource: Listen to Master Your Sleep & Be More Alert When Awake from the Huberman Lab Podcast (Episode #2) for expert insights on sleep optimization.

Week 7: Physical Health

What: Start a workout routine.

How: Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

Why: Physical health impacts every other area of your life.

Resource: My favorite fitness apps for starting out: Lose It! (food & weight tracking), Get Running (beginner running), and Home Workout (bodyweight training without equipment).

Week 8: Mental Health

What: Practice mindfulness.

How: Spend 10 minutes a day meditating or doing deep-breathing exercises.

Why: A healthy mind is crucial for decision-making and stress management.

Resource: FitMind and Waking Up are excellent science-based apps to train your mind. And if you’re one of the 240M+ Netflix subscribers, Headspace has an approachable guided meditation series you can watch for free.

Week 9: Relationship Building

What: Strengthen your personal relationships.

How: Spend quality time with family and friends. Have at least one meaningful conversation a week.

Why: Strong relationships contribute to a fulfilling life.

Resource: John Gottman, Ph.D. is my go-to resource for science-backed relationship advice. You can’t go wrong with any of his books (or workshops). Two I highly recommend: The Relationship Cure: A 5 Step Guide to Strengthening Your Marriage, Family, and Friendships and Eight Dates: Essential Conversations for a Lifetime of Love.

Week 10: Reflection & Adjustment

What: Review the past 9 weeks.

How: Look at your accomplishments and adjust your goals and methods as needed. Start a daily gratitude journaling practice to continue your positive momentum into the new year.

Why: Reflection allows you to pivot and tackle obstacles more effectively.

Resource: Read my post on the many health benefits of daily gratitude journaling.

Making It Work for You

This 10-week plan is designed to be cumulative.

You start at Week 1 and build upon it each week, incorporating the previous weeks' tasks into your routine.

By the end of the 10 weeks, you'll be unrecognizable. In the best way possible.

However, even if you pick just a few steps and commit to them consistently, you'll still see a positive impact in your life.

The key is to start now and keep going.

That’s all for today. Until next week, stay brilliant my friend.
